The ideal group size for this training is 1-2 facilitators and 20-25 participants, but group sizes and implementation can vary.
Using an experiential process, participants of the training will discuss the key elements for youth development program success. Interactive and engaging, Essential Elements is easy to use and fun to implement. The curriculum was designed to help participants understand the importance of positive youth development by presenting the 4-H Essential Elements as critical “ingredients” that are central to helping young people become competent, contributing adults. Participants make "pizza" with various ingredients, as an analogy for the essential elements of youth development. You can also purchase our chef hat and an apron, as props for your training.
The curriculum consists of ten (10) modules. It is designed to be used in its entirety but can be presented in sections, if time is limited. The average time to complete the training is 10-12 hours, with each session lasing an hour or more, depending on the number of participants and length of discussions.
