Essential Elements of 4-H Youth Development (2016 Revision) is a training resource for creating intentional youth development environments. This guide is intended for the seasoned youth development professional who will be leading a training of other youth professionals and/or volunteers.

Using an experiential process, participants of the training will discuss the key elements for youth development program success. Its methods are easy to use and fun to implement, and participants have found the activities interactive and engaging. The curriculum was designed to help participants understand the importance of positive youth development by presenting the 4-H Essential Elements as critical “ingredients” that are central to helping young people become competent, contributing adults.
